Tiroler Land du bist so schön so schön.....

Last weekend, one of my friends Lisa organized a tirolian evening... At the same time it was a going away party for her, because she will be going to Berlin for at least six months.
Have fun Lisa, and see you soon.

First days back on snow

A few days ago I went skiing again for the first time in over six months. It was a great feeling to be out on the glacier wearing my ski boots and skis.
The first two days I just took it easy and felt how everything was going.
After that I started working with my old coach who knows me since I was young, therefore he also really knows what I need to work on to have a good come back  this season.
So we started with low technical exercises.... snow plow, pole plant and easy sliding on the edges, real technical " drill " training.  This might sound strange to you, but you really have to start with the basic exercises if you want to change some technical stuff. I know this will help me for the coming season.

Me and Lucia Recchia after my first turns on the glacier in Val Senales. (Italy)

Me in the front, our coach Hanjorg, and Lucy in the back.

Looking down from the top of the glacier.

I am loving it!!

My knee is feeling a lot better and I hope that I can soon start training in gates and working towards the coming winter.
All the best,

Jeff

Traveling to Italy.

After a great summer in Montreal,  I came to Italy last Saturday to get back on to snow and prepare myself for the oncoming winter.

The past few weeks I spent training in Montreal and organizing a surprise „PARTY“ for my girlfriend’s 30th birthday. It turned out to be a great evening. There were lots of friends that she had not seen for a long time, and she was really surprised. She hadn’t expected anything at all. After a great evening where  I met lots of Julie’s friends,  we went back home and I got ready to fly out the next day to Italy.

So I arrived here in Italy last Saturday and the next day, I went with my sister Isabelle,  her boyfriend Mike and my other sister’s boyfriend Matthias on a wonderful but very long bike tour around a mountain close to home, which is called Paitler Kofel. We biked for almost 4 hours and did over 1.380 m in altitude which was really cool.  Some parts were so steep that some of us had to push our bikes for a bit.

This is how the morning started. Matthias checking out the route on the maps.

This is the rode we came up on. Once we were above the tree line it was very steep.

Me and my sister Isa almost at the top, waiting for the rest :-)

This was the steepest part of the tour,
( you can not really tell on this picture, but trust me it WAS )
the last 5 min, before getting to the top.
Matthias pushing his bike.

We made it!!!

Coolest shot of the day!! Mike getting ready for the downhill part.
Check out the view!!!

The nicest part of biking up the mountain so high is that you can
enjoy the ride back down.

The scenery was gorgeous.

We made it!! Behind us the mountain 'Paitler Kofel'. We biked around
the whole mountain group. You can not even see how far we went,
the zoom of the camera was too small. HAHA....

I hope the next post will be about my first days back on snow.
Talk to you soon.

Yea I did not blog for a few months. I know.

The last two months have flown by!  I’ve been keeping myself busy with rehab, working out, extreme pilates, visiting my family in Italy and enjoying beautiful Lake Tremblant!
My knee is progressing really well and I have my sights set skiing at some point in the fall!!

I can’t wait to get back on snow, but I have been thoroughly enjoying the summer while getting myself and my knee back in shape!
Here are a couple of pictures from lately!!

June first.... my birthday, enjoying a great dessert, which my girlfriend her brother Vince and his girlfriend Cat prepared for me.

Pontoon PARTY!!! Having lots of fun on the lake with friends.

Me posing in the lake...

My buddy Ju, trying a back flip. Did not really work out. HAHAHA.

Picture of the day.... Gab jumping off the top of the Pontoon... Style points 10. Landing points 8.5

My girlfriend Julie surfing the wave behind the boat... Good Job, you rock.

In July my girlfriend and I went to Florida for a little vacation, visiting her mother Celine and Larry. We had a great time and laughed a lot. Larry and Celine took us to Disney World, which was a wonderful experience for all of us, although Larry has been there before.

The dream team in Magic Kingdom. Behind us, the famous castle of Disney World.

Celine and Larry; trying to keep their heads cool, while we waited for the parade....

Here you go, Mickey and Minnie mouse.

Every one looks like this in Florida. I guess it is a new look, that will probably will be here in Canada next summer. So get ready!

Larry and myself ( the two italians ) in the italian part of Disney World.

A little inscription in the sand. Florida 2010 Julie & Jeff.

Celine and I; playing beach tennis.

Enjoying fresh pesto pasta and a good glass of wine.

We went to visit my family's good friends , Monika and John who I had not seen for a very long time. It was great to see them and catch up. P.S. Thanks for the great meal, Monika.

Julie and I, last night out in Florida. It was a great vacation. Although we both look happy, we did NOT want to leave.

Now I am back in Montreal for two more weeks, and then I will go to see my family in Italy where I will also get back onto the snow. I can not wait, it was a great summer but I am really exited to be going skiing soon.

I will try to start bloging more often....
Talk to you soon.

Spring time in Montreal

The last few weeks went by so fast. I am quite happy the way my recovery is coming a long. I am walking now with out crutches, and I started training in one of the best sporting clubs in Montreal. My weekdays are fully booked between physio, workouts and crazy pilates classes. The past weeks I spent between Montreal and Mont-Tremblant.

I was able to visit my canandian "parents" Donna and Mike over the week-end up in Tremblant .
The town and ski club had organized a parade for the Olympians. It was fun beying part of it even though I got injured prior to the Games and couldn't race.

Here we are at the parade!

We were transported from the old town to the mountain on a fire truck with this banner on the side. Too bad we can't see the truck on this pic.... it was awesome!
Anna Goodman, Brigit Acton,  Julien Cousineau, Erik Guay,  Caroline Clave and I  got to hang out with Jasey Jay Anderson the Olympic snowboard gold medalist! How sweet!

Even my buddy Vince and Logann (Erik's daughter) came out to chill with us. Woot Woot!

We were welcomed by this huge crowd at the base of the hil. Cool eh ?!

The great ski club of Tremblant supporting its athletes .... thank you so much.

Here I am signing posters after the parade. A lot of people showed up to meet us .... over a 2 hour line up .... aren't we precious!?!

I've been spending the rest of my time experiencing the great city of Montreal in a new way. I am enjoying the international cuisine and people. I am having lots of fun and made new friends. I feel energized and I am looking forward to the up coming summer.

Cooking at the Goodman's with Anna , Marco and co....

 Yummy Japanese ......

The ladies out and about. Looking good ...

For 5 dollars, me love you long time.
J'apprend le francais. Merci beaucoup.

One month post op.

People say time flies when you're having fun, but for a couple weeks after surgery time was moving slowly as I was trying to fight off pain and swelling.
Luckily, the past two weeks things changed for the better; the pain died down and I was finally able to leave the house and get some fresh air.
I teamed up with my good friend and teammate Anna Goodman for physio, biking and lots of icing. We are having lots of fun and trying to look at the bright side of things.

Going for dinner with my great sponsors DGRGCPM
There we all are at dinner, thanks again DGRGCPM you guys rock!!  P.S. the food was amazing.
At phyiso, getting strong.
Anna and I being celebrities, no big deal!!
